General Impressions-Getting To Kashmir(India)& Home Again
Flying from the capital of India-Dehli, to Srinagar, Kashmir I was concerned about safety because I would be flying on a local airline-Indian Airlines. Waiting for this flight I started talking to an Indian Airlines pilot and he was excited to tell me about his flight training by the Boeing Company in Seattle. This greatly assured me. I was also assured when the jet took off like a fighter plane at full power at its maximum rate of climb, not being subject to noise pollution laws. I was further reassured about my safety when we started our descent through turbulent thunderhead clouds for Srinagar. Srinagar is surrounded by the Himalaya Mountains and the pilot has to work his way down through these mountains and avoid the most turbulent sections of these clouds. When the pilot would see an ominous cloud he would give the plane power and stop the descent and climb till he was around the dangerous sections of these clouds and then start his descent again. The Indian next to me looked at me and said if this were a propeller plane we would have to return to Dehli. The pilot repeated this half a dozen times and you could look out and be in clouds one moment seeing nothing and the next moment look out and see giant Himalaya peaks next to you or above you. I was not the least bit concerned over my safety and had no doubt the Boeing 737 was being flown by one of the best pilots in the world.
To be continued next week.
Please pray for peace and freedom in Muslim Kashmir(India).
